The wall

TSL Pandorathon 1 2020

It’s not a park as such
Although on a sunny day
You may see many families
Pick-nicking on its tombs
It holds so many famous remains
That it has become
A favourite destination
For the tourists visiting Paris
But every year to this day
On the first of May,
International Labour day,
A pilgrimage of sort
Happens in one corner
You may see a parade
Of people with a red rose
In their lapel walking
All united in memory
Of the “communards”
Shot in front of the wall
And thrown in an open pit,
The wall only monument
To the Commune insurrection
And you may hear
An old man saying
"There is a sorrow that lingers in old parks" ,
Looking around wistfully
One amongst the throng
Of the somber celebration.
