The moments
Life is but a series of moments
The ones which branded me
Were the ones I stumbled
The ones realisation hit
I had no control
I wasn’t in charge
The ones I had
To roll with the punches
In order to survive
Even in success
Ridicule destroyed achievements
Laughing was not permitted
Had to keep a straight face
While the vice-chancellor
Couldn’t read my thesis title
At my PhD graduation ceremony
Gone were the pomp and circumstances!
One does not own moments
For they never belong to us!
