At the traffic lights

Stopped at the traffic light
Listening to drive fm
Looking at the old Paddy’s market
Urgent police cars sirens
Tearing the mellow afternoon mood
Patrol cars blocking the intersection
Flashing blue, red lights on
The traffic lights answering
On their merry go round way
Green, orange, red
The crossroad stay empty
Stuck at the traffic lights
Can’t do a U-turn
Surrounded by police force
A black motorcade appears
Ten motorcycles followed
By two black cars with flags on the bonnet
In the second one a waving hand is observed
By the walking crowd stopped by
As soon as the official cars have passed
Traffic is opened to the rabbles
For we waited for the queen to wave us good day.
