Rainy day

Rainy day

The rain gauge is filled, a record,
After a night and day of endless rain
The soil is so wet it cannot absorb anymore water
The rain gathers in rivulets running into ditches
Slowly flowing onto the tracks
Yesterday's dry creeks are raging torrents
Fast pouring into the flat paddocks
Ever so slowly turning into shallow billabongs
The paddocks slide, the paddocks glide
The paddocks move down with the flow
Fed by the overrun of the forest
The dam fills quickly
Stretching ever so much
Its own boundaries
Erasing man made ones
Hiding the anthills
Redefining the ever spreading landscape
Into a complete deliquescence
Water is surrounding us
As we cannot escape it
So let's take a walk and enjoy it!
