On the comet tail

They were kissing in the sunset
I only saw skulls shattering to dust
In the eternal explosion of their love
Their kiss turned to ashes
In a blink of an eye
Dispersed by inter sidereal wind
A new comet was born
From their brief union
To carry the news of their passing
Alighting the dark sky behind
The vacuum of their presence
Left our world poorer and greyer
But no one saw it
We had been extinct
By a billion years.
