Childhood memories

Children playing tag in the street
Laughing,screaming
Running wild after a dog
Fighting the next street kids
How happy they looked
How rough they were
How worldly they seemed
How alive they sounded
To the silent girl
Peeping though the dark foliage
Hidden inside the fragrant  hedge
Of blooming lilac at the bottom of the garden
A book in her lap
Her dog crouching at her feet
The garden gate locking them in
Outside  life  excluded her
Inside was the dreaming world
She created anew everyday
Welcoming her, calling to her
Resonating to her desires,
Once Immersed in it
Only the call to "lunch is ready"
Would bring her back to reality.
