G.B.S. Versus O.W.

 #TSL

Pandorathon 5 May 5

When Oscar Wilde and GB Shaw had a funny conversation while watching a circus

Use quotes from them and imagine the dialogue

George Bernard Shaw

Oscar Wilde

After the representation

Sitting at the circus buvette,

I stated “life is a circus really”

G. B. S. Replied

"The longer I live, the more convinced am I

that this planet is used by other planets as a lunatic asylum."

O.W. Already in his cups, pipped in

"Just be your self. Everybody else is already taken."

I assented with him

“ all the best clowns roles certainly”

To which

G. B. S. Contributed

 "We don't stop playing because we grow old;

we grow old because we stop playing."

O.W. Became existentialist

"To live is the rarest thing in the world.

Most people exist, that is all."

To which I inserted my grain of salt

“Everyone is questing for the right guru”

O.W. Simply belched out

"Conformity is the last refuge of the unimaginative"

Slapping his empty glass on the table

G. B. S. Answered to that barb

 "Beware of false knowledge;

it is more dangerous than ignorance."

O.W. Readily countered

"The answers are all out there,

we just need to ask the right questions."

Somehow the discussion veered somewhat

To something of a more practical nature

G. B. S. "A government that robs Peter to pay Paul

can always depend on the support of Paul."

O.W. "Always borrow money from a pessimist.

He won't expect it back."

I simply replied “next round on me!”
