The moon tonight

Once the disturbed ducks
Flown to the nearby forest
As a secure refuge
As serenity returned

Once the disturbed ducks
Flown to the nearby forest
Finding a secure refuge
As serenity returned
The  moon smiled
In the billabong mirror
An upside down grin
Reflected low in the sky
High in the water
All around me
Playing with my head
Reality has acquired fluidity
Solidity suddenly receded
Into a smooth mercury plane
Erasing the fading colours
Of the falling dusk
Leaving me to find
The faint luminous trail
Of your loving smile
All those years ago
Once found in my heart
It still shines
As  brightly as the one tonight.
