Flies' season

Once again the season
Of the flies is upon us
Carried by the Northerlies
They fit in nooks and crannies
From where they spy on us
Searching for the cool shade
Morphing the wraparound verandah
Into a buzzing alley
As soon as we step outside
Making the Australian Salute
A de rigueur ritualistic gesture.
Small flies from the deserts
Or fat resident blowflies
Have somewhat in common
An irritating attitude
They stick to you , what may come
Crowning you into a reigning lady
Or lord of the flies,
Courting you like courtesans of old,
So you may as well enjoy it!
