The long paddock

During the drought
When the paddocks
Have turned to dust
The herds are mustered
To move along the long paddock
Where they can feast
On the ditches by the road
The shepherd herds the animals
Up with the sun
Stopping only when water is reached
It makes for long days
As water is often scarce
At nighttime the man
Takes shelter under a tent
The dogs look after the herd
Taking shelter under the brilliant night sky
It last as long as the drought.
