Red breasted robin
Shy red breasted robin
Won't you fly to open woodland?
Why do you keep to the deep forest?
You delight us with your red plastron
Hoping from branch to branch
Leading us away from your nest
Just a small jump further
You show no fear
Teasing us all the way
To follow your crimson flash
No sudden cry
No jerky movements
Simple determination
In jest you dart to the fallen tree
To distract our attention
As soon as we move on
You flit back to her
Sweet red breasted robin
We never were danger.
