A lasting poem

To write a lasting poem
On a piece of bark
What should I choose
To write about?
Love is always a winner
Peace is a strong contender
Humour might be off course
War and military glory
Aren't to be considered
Death although morbid
Would fit the bill
Of dust to dust
In an endless eternity
But sickness won't do
It can get too gory
Youth and beauty
Are always in favour
Why, of course,
It's obvious when you think about it
It has to be all about Nature !
