A walk

And there I am
Like a cuckoo clock
Calling the hour
Shouting his name
To the four winds.
Without any doubts
He has spotted and followed
A more adventurous trail
While I was daydreaming .
The empty track
Stares back at me impassive
The forest is disquietly silent
I am the one disturbing
Its peace today .
I keep calling him
Without any respite
Hoping  it will interrupt
His frenzied mindless pursuit
And return to me
What are my chances?
The huge forest is inviting
 Its temptations too numerous
To be counted
When a sudden movement
Of a white ball is detected
It grows by the seconds
Floppy ears and wagging tail
Galloping towards me
Eyes telling me
"There you are, lady!
I thought I had lost you
For a moment,
One can't trust you
You always wander by yourself
Without any warning.
Good thing I'm a good tracker!"
I let it pass, I'm happy he is back.
