Gin
For a long time I thought
And it shows my prejudice
That a gin was thus called
Due to the high consumption
Of the distilled drink
But historically rum
It would have been
Not gin burning down the throats
Of convicts and aborigines alike
So gin we have now
A shorten version for an aboriginal woman
A slang word used to demean
To insult and degrade at will
A gin, typical really of our world
Sad reflection on our society.
