An evening at the ballet

Alice, what a trip
We had following you
Down the rabbit hole
I never blinked
During the first act
Too afraid to lose
Some action on stage
Such brio, such talent
You held us in suspense
The duchess scene
Had us shivering for sure
Meeting the Cheshire Cat
Added to our bewilderment
Blew my mind really
Reality became a moot point
To be discussed around
At the phrenetic tap-tapping tea party
Your meeting with the caterpillar
Was as welcomed a relief for us
As for you if not to your balance
Eating that piece a of mushroom
Might not have been your best decision
The flower garden magic
Brought back to you the knave
With the white rabbit and the queen
In a hot pursuit on wheels
What a delight she turned out to be
The tyrannical red queen
In the excesses of her court
To dance with her
Could bring swift death
As a walk in her gardens
Or a simple game of croquet
Power corrupts here
As well as in our world
Justice fails, mayhem follows
The house of cards collapses
The hold of Illusion fades
We are brought back
To deal with our reality
With the means at our disposition.
